On Wednesday I pedalled for half an hour on the New Turbo Trainer - I love it! The shed is a bit drafty, which is fine as it keeps me cool, and staring at the shed door is a little dull - I'll get organised and find a DVD to watch (or a box set might take me longer). I've also got a small computer thingy which hopefully will tell me how far I've pedalled... First I have to figure out the instructions.
And my New Year's Resolution (yes, I know nobody keeps them, but if I put it down here I might just do it) is to complete all my chiro and physio exercises every odd date of the year. So, the 1st, 3rd, 5th etc. I should have gone for even dates then I could have missed out 31st and 1st instead of doing two days in a row... doh. Didn't think it through... So far so good - I've done 1st, 3rd and 5th - yay! Who said I can't keep a resolution?
Today after I'd washed the cars, I topped up the water in the pool and thought I'd swim while it was filling up. Except that the heater had flipped itself off during the week (it does this on a complete whim from time to time) and the temperature was down to 16° - or Absolutely Bloody Freezing as it has been called since last year's triathlon... The pool cover needed adjusting so I was waist deep in the water for a good ten minutes, after which I could no longer feel my feet.... I didn't swim. I know - I'm a wimp.
After my non-swim I pedalled on the turbo trainer - 40 minutes, almost all of it in top gear. Yay! It felt remarkably comfortable (well, not quite - memo to self: remember to put on padded cycling trousers - that saddle is SHARP) until I stopped and found my legs were quite wobbly. Still, that means it was a good workout and should, if I do it regularly, make a massive difference to my cycling. I watched a bit of last night's edition of 'Splash' while I was pedalling - I'll get a workout DVD next...
In the afternoon the Melodeon Master and I booked our camping to watch the Tour de France in Yorkshire.
When I say camping I mean a completely furnished glamping bell tent package with proper showers.
Obviously.
