It's all about the numbers...

My lovely client today offered to give me a Reiki healing session for my birthday and said 'So, are you actually doing anything on your birthday?' 'Yes, the Oblivion 10k Mud Runner!' I said proudly.

'You're mad.' Just about sums it up, really...

My race number and timing chip (I hope it registers 'hours' and not just 'minutes') has arrived. I'm number 299. Just under three quid then...

My number is not only up for the Mud Runner on 8th May, but also...

A 2k race across Cardiff Barrage on 2nd May - it's a charity race with another of my clients who only started running 2 or 3 weeks ago so we decided it was a nice easy distance. She's got a watch distance recording thingy and was struggling with distance and time... except she had it clocking in miles, not kilometres, so she's nearly twice as far and twice as fast as she thought. She was going to be called Rubbish Running Boss but that hardly seems fair now... She'll have to be Wee Gill instead as she's Scottish and petite... So anyway, 2k on Monday. My race number has arrived - I'm 101. Twice my age...

And 10k on 15th May. I've entered the Bristol 10k Road Race. Because my nephew asked me to. I'm enormously proud to be his Running Aunt (actually that should be Rubbish Running Aunt) although I'm aiming for Quick Running Aunt. Charly is going to be wearing a crocodile outfit, so I'm hoping that will slow him down. Considerably. I will, naturally, be wearing something appropriate for the occasion... My race chip and number has just arrived for this one - I'm number 1662. Nearly the year I was born...

I've had more physio, I reek of Deep Heat, and Fit Mark sent me and Sian an email this morning addressed to 'my infirm and decrepit team mates'. Sounds about right. He also suggested we should seek sponsorship from WD40. Ho Ho Ho. He's off doing 'proper runs' this weekend, while Sian and I plan to have a gentle 5k tomorrow and see if any ankles, knees or achilles drop off. We do hope not...

And then we'll have an EEEEEK meeting at the weekend. With just a week to go...
