Life, right now, is Just A Bit Busy. So I'm trying to speed up my exercising...
I've previously fartleked (that's fart LECKED - otherwise I sound like I'm leaking) which is where you run quick then slower then quick again... and now I'm trying tabata. It's a Japanese system of exercise lasting just four minutes - you can do lots of repetitions, obviously, but it's four minutes at it's core.
The idea is that you use short bursts of energy and rest times - 20 seconds flat out exercise, 10 seconds rest. And repeat 7 more times - making four minutes in total. Sounds easy, huh?
Um....
This morning I ran super-early. So I tried the '20 seconds, 10 seconds' thing while running. I managed three repetitions before doubling over wheezing and spluttering. This may need practice, and it may be better not to try it running. Perhaps squat thrusts (ooh, easy) or press-ups (er....)
I'll try this again in the week.
