I've entered stuff....

After 11 days of eating too much and drinking too much (it was lovely) I decided I needed motivation to Start Training Again.  So I got busy...

I've entered Mud Runner Classic on 19th October.  Hey, it's 4 weeks away - that's 4 whole weeks of training, positively ahead of myself here.

I've also entered the first Cardiff Velothon on 14th June 2015.  It's 50k and it goes right past our door. So at least I'll be able to get a cup of coffee and use the loo without queueing...  I'm planning to do some sprint training (no, I've no idea what it involves either, just sounds like what I need to be doing) so that I can keep up with the MAMILs on the day...

I'm hoping to enter the Cardiff - Tenby 100.  It's a lot easier than going all the way to London to cycle 100 miles, but on the other hand it's a lot hillier.  On the other hand again (yes, I am a mutant, I do have 3 hands) the web blurb says 'it's not a race, it's not a sportive, it's a bike ride' which sounds just right.  I'm also hoping to coerce some unsuspecting girl friends to do this with me.  Maybe if I don't mention the '100 mile' bit??

And then there will be IceBreaker in February - proper entering this time, not back marking.  Just to see if I can make it round more quickly than the slowest people.

However, I am feeling my age.  This is entirely because, after a particularly splendid walk with Happy Running Dog (now temporarily Happy Walking Dog because we really walk so that we can concentrate on training her to do things like, ooh, coming back when we call) we met a couple of mountain bikers and the girl noticed my RideLondon T shirt (one of the useful things to come out of doing the ride - I bought a nice baggy T shirt and I came home with 3 wonderful drawstring plastic bags which are just the right size for walking boots and I didn't even get charged 5p for them).  Where was I?  Oh yes, the girl noticed my RideLondon T shirt and started to chat about a new Welsh initiative for women cyclists called Breeze and how it aims to encourage women riding bikes.  She then said (and this is why I'm feeling my age) that if we had GRANDCHILDREN we could take them along on the ride.  She must have seen my face as she back-pedalled (ooh, cycling analogy) a bit and said 'children' and then said 'or any small people'....  Pah!  GRANDCHILDREN???

And finally, our lovely house-sitter Vivacious Mel left two pairs of swimming goggles behind.  We had a chat and I posted one pair back to her but she said to bin the other pair.  However, they're nice goggles, they sort of fit and one of us really is improving her swimming all the time.

So we've put them to good use:
