Phew what a scorcher

Isn't it warm? Very warm. Very very warm, in fact. No, I'm not complaining, I think it's lovely. Although if I'm cycling in the shed I do glow a bit...

Happy Running Dog has discovered the delights of water - and jumped into every pond, stream, puddle and pool of water she's come across. She's met a sheep (wanted to play with it) several cats (wanted to play with them) and a squirrel (wanted to play with it). We're trying to teach her some manners, but it does largely consist of her being vertical at the end of a horizontal lead.  Next weekend we start proper dog training classes. It could be interesting...

On the plus side, she is BRILLIANT to run with - she's so enthusiastic, she reckons I'm a superstar just for simply putting my trainers on (she gets very excited) and then when we actually go outside and I start running (slowly) she says it's even MORE exciting and how FAB is that! She bounds on ahead and then comes back to find me, and bounds on ahead and comes back to find me. Very Tiggerish and very happy - lovely.

My hand has had more treatment, but is not really any better. I did manage to change gears once with it on the turbo trainer, but then it was too feeble to do it again. There are two big hills in Ride London, so I reckon it's a minimum of 8 left hand gear changes. I'm currently practising doing it with my right hand. And I'm doing my exercises to 'floss my ulna nerve'. I kid you not - apparently it's got a kink in it (like a hosepipe) and I need to unkink it.

And did you see the team triathlon event at the Commonwealth Games - how much fun was that? I hadn't seen it before, and thought it was brilliant, especially the running dives into the lake - great stuff. And England won by a mile too, very impressive. I don't know how they run that fast with rubber legs after the bike section...

So, two weeks to go. I was hoping to train hard this week, then go into 'taper down' for the last week. Cycling is really a bit tricky to not make my hand any worse, so I'll have to run and swim instead.

And make cakes.

That counts as training, right?
