No, I'm not playing in the World Cup. And, no, I've not had tattoos all over me. I'm not even doing adverts in my underpants for H&M (phew, I can hear you say...)
No, I've done something nasty to my metatarsal...
I actually damaged it about 4 weeks ago - smacked it on the iron bedstead getting out of bed - and really thought nothing of it, apart from expecting a spectacular bruise which never materialised. Last Monday night I went for a teensy weensy run with Glam Cath (she runs a beauty parlour) who wants to start running (2k walk/run, very very slow) and afterwards my foot would hardly take any weight at all. Oops.
A physio appointment on Tuesday revealed that I might originally have cracked the bone but given the injury was by then 3 weeks old I was told there wasn't much point going for an x-ray. Heat was applied and a bit of very uncomfortable strapping, and that was that. It didn't feel any better...
The only thing that I've found helps is sitting with my foot raised up and an ice pack. Sigh.
As there is a limit to how much 'sitting with leg up' I can do, the Melodeon Master and I ventured out to the local farmers' market this morning (for food, sort of essential), to the dump (goodbye heinous exercise bike) and to the supermarket (biscuits needed for Newly Improved Running Dog).
I didn't do my weekly cycle ride this morning - but I have been on the lovely smooth new exercise bike and in the pool every morning. Swimming can't hurt, surely?
Surely you should be okay cycling? Will it make much difference to your training for London 100? Make the most of the rest though!
ReplyDeleteYes, I think cycling is OK as long as there's not too much pressure on top of my foot... still haven't mastered the cleat thingys (technical term)... Sitting down with a foot up is quite nice too!
ReplyDeleteI liked it. Thanks for sharing the Boo
