Caerphilly Mountain on telly!

I'm exhausted.  I've just yelled encouragement at two Brownlees whilst watching the Triathlon World Championships finale.  Alastair's ankle gave up and Jonathan ran his socks off, beaten by just ONE SECOND at the line after 1 hour 48 minutes.  I'm gutted.  He's gutted.  Alastair's probably really gutted too.  Mr Brownlee senior said that now the boys will both take a holiday.

Climbing Kilimanjaro.

I'm exhausted just thinking about it...

My foot's still sore, so it's no running and lots of biking for me - I repeated my original 'hilly 20 miles' yesterday and knocked 20 minutes off my previous time.  Although, to be fair, on the first run I was just going for distance and kept stopping to admire the view.  Still, that's an excellent tactic to ensure that I can go faster the next time.

And this time I did take a second out to take a photo:

I know!  This Thursday the Tour of Britain comes through Caerphilly and up the Mountain.  The Mountain I haven't yet managed to cycle up.  From Saturday's Guardian sports section I now know that this is a Category 1 climb (ooh er) and that Sir Wiggo was practising on it on Wednesday.  His coach says that he likes to know the route - that way he knows it's steep but it's only four minutes of pain.

Four minutes.  FOUR MINUTES????

I think it takes me about 12, not even counting my stop half way up, but I can't be sure as I was breathing too heavily to see my watch clearly...

So, on Thursday the Melodeon Master and I will be standing at the top of Caerphilly Mountain cheering wildly as the Tour comes through.

I can't wait to see how proper cyclists do it...
