Fit in three weeks?

That's the question - is it possible to get triathlon-fit in just 3 weeks?  I've been unwell (bar a few days) since IceBreaker.  I've not been on the heinous exercise bike for the last 3 weeks and the triathlon is 3 weeks today.  Eek.

On the plus side, both I and the Melodeon Master are both feeling better - yesterday we did a Tesco shop, had a lazy coffee, went to dog training, had lunch and an afternoon snooze before actually mowing the grass.  Pretty energetic, eh?  Well, that's what we thought until we realised that in the same time (to just before the grass mowing) Fit Mark had run 23 miles with 3 mountains thrown in for good measure taking part in the Three Peaks Fell Race.  Yep, certifiably mad.  Awesome achievement and, no, I'm NOT thinking of doing it.  Ever.

So, after successful grass mowing and no relapses, today was the first day of the (now) three week training schedule to a personal best in a triathlon.  5k at speed on the heinous exercise bike, brisk swim and, er, well nothing else - that was it.

I'm planning to practice running after cycling too - I've not yet mastered the whole 'running with rubber legs' thing.  Admittedly I've not yet mastered the 'running' thing at all, but I'm even worse with rubber legs.

And I need to lose about 5 pounds.  During the first bug, I followed the old adage 'feed a cold, starve flu' spectacularly well.  So now I'm training carrying the equivalent of two bags of flour.  Much harder work.

The plan for the next three weeks is therefore as follows:-

1.  Lose 5 pounds.
2.  Speed up on the swim.
3.  Practice getting out of the odd shaped wetsuit.
4.  Speed up on the bike.
5.  Practice running with rubber legs.
6.  Speed up on the run.

Simples.
