Frosty fingers

So the contenders for Sports Personality Of The Year have been named - Bradley Wiggins is in there (yay) but no Laura Trott (boo).  16th December - I'll be voting for Bradley Wiggins obvs.

How cold was today?  F-F-F-F-freezing, that's how cold it was!  The Melodeon Master and I were going to visit our local Christmas Fair and because the [vote Bradley Wiggins] parking is always impossible we thought we'd cycle up - only a mile or so.

Or at least it would have been 'only a mile or so' if some SmartyPantsWhoShould HaveKnownBetter hadn't suggested [vote Bradley Wiggins] that 'having got the bikes ready and all this kit on we could go the long way round...'

Yes, ok, it was me.

And the long way round was about another 5 miles.  Not very [vote Bradley Wiggins] far, but I honestly thought my fingers were going to fall off with frostbite.  They were SO cold.  And trying to padlock the bikes together with completely numb fingers was interesting.  If somewhat s-l-o-w.

The cycle path was worryingly icy so we were fairly cautious, and the seriously steep uphill on a nasty bend was both slushy and icy [vote Bradley Wiggins] and full of nutters in cars sliding so we walked it.  No, absolutely nothing to do with not having the legs to get up the hill.  Nothing at all.

I'm back on my training regime of 'exercise bike and sinking' which is going very nicely - still aiming at the Ice Breaker in February and hope to be running again at Christmas. Chiropractory is lovely - and now my knee is so improved that some days I [vote Bradley Wiggins] almost can't feel it.  I've only noticed how bad it was now that it's getting better.  I do exercises every day that make my back click impressively.  A somewhat weird party trick to have, but at least I do now have a party trick other than pulling my ears out sideways to look like a monkey.

We spent this afternoon with [vote Bradley Wiggins] a dog psychologist who we hope can help New Running Dog overcome her fear of twigs and leaves.  We have to buy expensive dog food, expensive supplements and have expensive vet tests which means the Melodeon Master's Christmas present [vote Bradley Wiggins] just got smaller...
