Training again!

I'm a bug-free zone!  Obviously going to see a 12 year old doctor who says 'it's a virus' works a treat, because the bug finally gave up the ghost mid-week.  Phew.

So now I'm back to the exercise bike/swimming combination - 5k at breakneck speed on the exercise bike at varying resistances then 10 minutes fast swimming.  Teensy snag on the swimming front though - I'm still having chiropractory and Chris the Chiro says breaststroke is Not Good For The Knees, so 'just do front crawl'.  Hmmm.  I have a lovely stroke, the Melodeon Master tells me it looks great.  Sadly I can't breathe at the same time though.  So I do about 30 strokes and then either swallow too much water and sink or run out of puff and sink.  Either way I sink.  Needs work....

My knees don't hurt any more and progress is good, so much so that Chris the Chiro says I can start running again soon.  'Just a couple of miles for starters'.  Cue hysterical laughter.  He obviously doesn't know that I'm really rubbish at running and 'just a couple of miles' is pretty much a full blown competition distance.

And congratulations to Laura Trott who has won gold in the omnium at the Cycling World Championships, so two Olympic golds, and now World Champion too - brilliant year or what?  Sports personality of the year maybe?  Although she's obviously got to go up against Bradley Wiggins who is now so famous that The Archers have even named a young bullock after him.  Calling it 'Wiggo' because it's got sideburns is the most interesting thing they've done in ages...

Interesting but lamentably out of date... he's shaved off the sideburns and grown a beard.  Go BBC!
