OK, so who's got a remedy for this bug thing then? Three weeks after the Classic and I'm still husky, still coughing and I still have a snotty nose, no energy and a brain like cement. Really, it's just not on...
My most energetic exercise this weekend was wandering down to Fit Mark's house where, as the doorbell was answered, I shouted UNCLEAN UNCLEAN but the Lovely Louise very kindly insisted they'd all had the bug and I could go in... So I'm going to do 'fit by association' as Fit Mark ran 20 miles yesterday. Just standing near him makes me fitter, right? He's in training for the Brecon Sleepwalker - 20 miles across the Brecon Beacons. In the dark. Yep.
And I was given a health restoring Rumpledoodle too - what Heffalumps eat and all that.
You want the recipe? Simples:
1 cup rolled oats, 1 cup white sugar, 1 cup flour, 1 cup coconut, 1/2 cup raisins, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tbs baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 2 tbs molasses, 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted), 2 tbs boiling water.
Preheat oven to 350F. Grease baking sheets. Mix oats, sugar, flour, coconut, raisins, cinnamon, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. Add molasses and boiling water to the melted butter, pour all of that into the flour mixture, stir well. Drop by teaspoons onto baking sheet. Cook for about 12-15 minutes.
Wait until cold before eating. Yeah, right.
And not only did the Lovely Louise give me a Rumpledoodle, she also sent me away with advice that whisky, brandy, sloe gin, fizzy wine and honey would all help me feel better.
Itsh one helluva shticky cocktail but itsh very very very very tashty.
And she ish a pharmashist.
