Look - we've got posh photos! Peachy Snaps have done their usual brilliant thing and given us some really special memories of last weekend's Classic. Not least because they put one of our photos in the 'Junior Mud Runner' section which means we both look like under 16s. Result!! Not just '10 Years Younger' - more like, um... yes, ok, I'll need a calculator for that one...
This is the final pits - how much fun is that? This may, however, have been one of the places that the brunette princess acquired (apparently) spectacular bruises on her princessy bottom...
Obviously what we had in mind was to slide down, elegantly step to our feet and then run on.
But we fell over instead.
And I particularly like this one, very near the end, because Wee Gill is looking at me and smiling. Which probably means I'm not sacked. YAY!
As I was so wrapped up in my fairy story last week I totally forgot to say some 'thank you's to lots of people who made the Classic Mud Runner so very special - not least the lovely marshal in the swamp at the end, without whom I would undoubtedly still be there... As I was buried up to my knees, he bent down near to me, said to put my arm across his shoulders - and then he simply stood up, with me making disgusting 'schloop' noises as I gradually came out of the mud. I've no idea who he was and he must have been FILTHY by the time we'd all hung on to his neck - but he was wonderful and deserves a BIG thank you. And at least several beers....
Also to all the other marshals who were invariably cheerful, encouraging, enthusiastic and delightful.
And also to Elsie and Beth - organisers extraordinaire. And Mike the Mic who did Stuff with the Melodeon Master in the Junior warm-up...
And so that's it, for Wee Gill at least who has now officially retired from mud running, having achieved Mud Master status.
Although she has been muttering about doing Equinox again.
And on Wednesday she uttered the words 'Ice Breaker' and 'need to get a bicycle'...
