All this training is working! Who knew, eh? I'm feeling fitter, I'm sleeping like a log, I have more energy and I am READY for the triathlon. Pity it's still two weeks away and anything could happen in the meantime...
Each day I'm training in two disciplines - either cycling and swimming or swimming and running. I even did running and cycling on Thursday when I ran to the bike shop and collected my 'newly serviced in readiness for triathlon' road bike, and then rode it home. The long way. As it was the first time I'd run in over a month (trying to straighten the knees again), I jogged Very Slowly. And loved it! 2k to the bike shop, arrived not hot and not out of puff. Soooooo pleased.
Sooooooo pleased in fact that today I did it again. The running, not the 'collecting the bike thing'. I went out with New Running Dog (her first time in 6 months because of her slight mental breakdown in January) and we both had an absolutely fabulous time.
Just the 4k and New Running Dog even had the manners to pant a bit. Although she also yawned. And notice I can multitask - running AND sporting Jedward hair...
Yesterday, by way of 'serious training' I took the road bike to Sirhowy Valley and Route 47 again. Lovely smooth tarmac, gently undulating and opportunities for some serious training. Apart from the dogs and walkers and those 'slow-down-bike' things. I did manage to hit 40 kph though - quite comforting to know that (a) I can go that quick and (b) I didn't find it too scary... Just the 12k at speed, then home for another session on the exercise bike, followed by a fast half mile swim. And grass mowing and dog walking.
As I'm feeling so stonkingly fit I've been Planning... Triathlon, then Equinox (Mud Runner 10k in Scotland), a 50 mile charity bike event, then the Classic 10k Mud Runner. And more running with New Running Dog who is definitely part of the team.
She's even been helping plan outfits for the Mud Runner events...
