MUD, targets and the Great North Run!

Ice Cream Sian and I were SO pleased with our new target last week - 50k before the Mud Runner. At least, we were pleased until Fit Mark said 'Target? Nah - should be 100k!'

Hmmm....

So, Wednesday I took New Running Dog out for 5.4k to Rudry Top (that's the top of Rudry Common - 2.9k uphill to the top, 2.5 downhill back home) and on Saturday morning I did a 'little' 4.5k with New Running Dog just to get my legs moving.

It was muddy. Very very muddy. YAY!

As I was so revolting I decided to carry straight on and do the muckiest job I know - pressure hosing the steps and patio. By which time I was even muddier... what to do?

Yep. Pressure clean my feet!

Look at that - they are GLEAMING! Even the socks!! Am now seriously considering hiring a mobile car wash vehicle to offer a steam-clean service to runners after the Mud Runner for a fee.... I'd clean up! (Ho ho ho).

This morning Ice Cream Sian and I went out for a longer run. Well, a shorter longer run than we intended because of Ice Cream Sian needing to get back to get ice cream to a show.... 8k back to Ice Cream Sian's house, which didn't seem very far so I then ran the long way home, and then a bit more up the lane to make 10k then remembered I forgot to start my clever watch thingy for a while at the beginning so really it was 10.5k...

And I didn't even get my shoes dirty. Well, not very...

Pressure hose, anyone?

The plan now is to increase our distance by 2k every week, so by the Mud Runner we'll be up to 14k. Eeeek. Oh, and today was of course the Great North Run. And, um, we've decided to do it next year. Gulp. We'll have a girlie weekend in Newcastle and, um, do a half marathon...

So, kilometres so far towards our 50k target which Fit Mark thinks should be 100k:

Ice Cream Sian: 8k

Me: 5.4 + 4.5 + 10.5 = 20.4. YAY!

And my tip of the week: Don't pressure hose your bare legs after running. It stings a wee bit.
