It needs oiling...

In my latest zeal to look less flabby in lycra, I decided to 'up' the practising and since Saturday I've been doing 10k on the exercise bike followed by a mile swim each day. This is Good Stuff. So this week I've done 60k on the bike! I must be somewhere near Swindon - I'll be at my brother's by Monday (Caroline, please stick the kettle on!).

However, there is a glitch. Instead of getting easier each night, it's been getting harder. And harder... At the end of last night's 10k (and I was too dim to stop when it got really difficult) I realised that the pedals were practically not turning at all unless I jumped on them. Novel, but not a great cycling technique... As the kilometremeter (is that right? In miles it would be a milometer, so in kilometres it's a ... pass.) Anyway, as the thingy wot records how far I've gone has now passed 500k, I think it's seizing up. I know the feeling.

It needed oil.

Do we have bike oil? Nope. But we do have chain saw oil (as every girl should). Oil is oil (surely), so I've used the cat's medicine dropper thingy (it's ok, it's an old one he doesn't need it back) to drop oil on the chain. And tonight I'll find out if it's any better...

And if it isn't I may well be limping for the Santa Run on Sunday...
