Or not, as it's been postponed until January... Tempted though I was to don my Santa suit and jog round Bute Park anyway, we opted for a visit to the farmers' market instead. Which is right next to Bute Park. And, yep, it was icy. So probably best not to be running on it...
However, feeling in need of serious exercise, I decided to do my own Santa Triathlon at home. Which naturally I have called the Santa Tri-Elf-Lon.
First the swim....
As the Santa suit is made entirely of felt, I thought it quite possibly might disintegrate in the water, so I settled for my wetsuit and just the hat instead.
Very fetching... I swam for half an hour, but after 20 minutes realised that (a) my goggles weren't steaming up (b) I wasn't out of breath and (c) I was bored. I cranked the speed of the water up considerably, which sorted out (a), (b) and (c) remarkably quickly.
Then the 'bike'...
And apparently real cyclists Get Very Annoyed when us triathletes call it 'the bike' as if bike is a verb. As I was always rubbish at grammar, I shall still call it 'the bike'.
It was too slippy to be out on the roads near Caerphilly, so I settled for 5k on the exercise bike instead. In the Santa suit. Or Santa Sauna Suit as it really ought to be called. Anyone wanting to lose a few pounds can hire it from me. At very reasonable rates, naturally...
Then the dreaded run...
Just up and down the lane because of it being so slippery anywhere else. And in fact, not 'up and down the lane' so much as 'is that enough for a photo'. I'm still getting odd twinges in my adductor/hip flexor/whatever, so decided not to be brave and twang it again.
Yep, I wimped out...
It looks sunny and un-icy. Note the shiny black-icy patch on the lane in the other direction... that's why I'm going this way!
So that's it, I've done my first ever Santa Tri-Elf-Lon. Next year I may recruit others to join in with me.
Any takers?
