We have BICYCLES! Hooray! We went to pick them up yesterday, but it was still way too cold and icy to ride them home, so the Very Nice Man at the bike shop (Castle Bikes, Caerphilly, thank you) said he would deliver them to us. And he did! It was by then dark and we have no lights, so we couldn't actually ride them....
Here is Guy's bike:
And here's my bike:
You've guessed - it's a game of Spot The Difference! There are actually THREE differences between the bikes (and, no, the position of the rugs isn't one of them). Answers at the bottom of the blog...
When we were in the shop we also bought a lovely collection of Other Things A Cyclist Will Need - like water bottles, water bottle holders, bells (yes, bicycle bells - very useful for letting people on the Taff Trail know that we're behind them), shorts (for Guy), cycling top (for Guy), pump for inflating the tyres, padlocks for when we want to secure the bikes, shoes for me. The shoes are apparently a new model - pretty silver colour. Apparently in biking silver is THE colour to have - shows you know what you're doing. Which I don't.
So today, Sunday, my main aim was to try the bike, but we had stuff to do first - we bought a Christmas tree (can't be done after work - way too dark), rebuilt the squirrel assault course (as you do), cleaned cars (filthy in this weather), cleared leaves off the lawn (been under snow for two weeks), moved logs from the kitchen to the sitting room (needed for the log burner), and moved logs from the log store to the kitchen (so they can dry out before we need them) and then cleaned the kitchen and the sitting room because of all the bits of log we'd dropped...
And then it was dark. So I still haven't tried my bike.... next weekend. Definitely!
So did you Spot The Differences?
1. Guy's saddle is much higher
2. Guy's bike has pedals with strappy things on (toeclips, apparently) - mine have no strappy things because the bling silver shoes I bought are Proper Bike Shoes with cleats to clip on to the pedals to make me go faster... I'm a little worried about actually getting them clipped in - Charly, I may need some tuition here! (Charly is my mountain biking nephew who actually knows what he's doing).
3. My bike is prettier. And it will be prettier again when I ask Gareth the Print to do me some graphics for it...
