And whatever I did to it I made significantly worse on Thursday by Doing A Good Deed. I was leaving a hotel in Cardiff where I had been working and was heading back to the car in the gale force winds and driving rain when I saw a young woman struggling with an inside out umbrella and a map, clearly trying to figure out where she was. I asked if I could help and she said she needed to find the Welsh Institute of Sport. It was hard to describe how to get to it from where we were, so as I was going in that direction I said I would show her. She set off like the clappers. As she was about 6 foot tall, and at least 5'10" of that was legs, she was FAST! As I tried to keep up my twanged muscle was screeching with each step... I eventually gave up, pointed out the rest of the way and she virtually ran off. Nice girl, training to be a medic, comes from Shropshire, likes Cardiff, was being a volunteer for some fund-raising activity at the Institute that afternoon. I suppose it is a sign of my improving almost running fitness that I could Walk Very Fast and maintain a conversation at the same time, which is encouraging. Just a pity about the leg...
So I've had a thoroughly non-training weekend. The 5k Santa run is now 3 weeks today, and I am still determined to run the whole thing.
Even if slowly.
