Several people have asked me who the charity is that I am competing for - the event is Tri for Life and their nominated main charities are Great Ormond Street, Leukaemia Research, Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity, World Jewish Relief . In addition, 30% of the total funds raised will be distributed amongst smaller charities. I am well on the way to my target of £200 but I'd like to raise lots more if I can, so if you haven't sponsored me already, please do - all contributions will be VERY gratefully received! I was phoned today by a lady from Tri for Life - very nice, just asked if I had any questions or queries, if I was ok raising sponsorship, that sort of thing. I said that I was writing a blog on my website, I'd hired a wetsuit and a bike, that I had raised nearly half the money already (ok, that's over-egging it a bit but I do have a promise from my mum) and that training was going fine apart from the bug and the knees - I said that I might have to walk the run but as long as they didn't mind I didn't mind either. She sounded really pleased with my progress, which is very encouraging. And, as far as the run goes, if I walk it this time then run the next time (ooh, look - I'm planning the next one already!) I can't fail to do a new personal best. Did you see that Mo Farrah set a new British record in Zurich last night when he ran 5k in 13 minutes. THIRTEEN MINUTES! Good grief. Apparently he trains at high altitude. Caerphilly's got a mountain so I'm on the right lines...
And after my sugarfest of the past few days (my body needed it and all that) I have to get my diet back on track. I did start all this to get back in shape, after all. However, it's Friday night, we fancy a take-away (Guy calls it a 'carry-out' - weird Scottish saying or what?) and I expect there'll be a glass of wine. We'll be watching the cricket highlights (lowlights?) so I think the wine may be Very Necessary...
