Improving.... except the knees

I have worked all of today! Yay! That means I am officially Getting Better - and not before time. All my muscles, especially my knees, are seizing up due to the lack of swimming - I really do need to go and have a nice relaxing swim and just stretch everything a bit. I am still trying to resolve the trainer issue - I'd like to make a mad dash to Bath to see Malcolm and Neil at the running shoe shop, but I really ought to NOT rush around at the weekend and get tired having been so crook for the past few days. It's probably more important to rest. Or is it more important to get the trainer issue sorted? Bath's only an hour (ok and a bit) away, it would be possible to go... Shall I be sensible or sorted? Should we have a vote? I used to be indecisive...

Several people have asked me who the charity is that I am competing for - the event is Tri for Life and their nominated main charities are Great Ormond Street, Leukaemia Research, Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity, World Jewish Relief . In addition, 30% of the total funds raised will be distributed amongst smaller charities. I am well on the way to my target of £200 but I'd like to raise lots more if I can, so if you haven't sponsored me already, please do - all contributions will be VERY gratefully received! I was phoned today by a lady from Tri for Life - very nice, just asked if I had any questions or queries, if I was ok raising sponsorship, that sort of thing. I said that I was writing a blog on my website, I'd hired a wetsuit and a bike, that I had raised nearly half the money already (ok, that's over-egging it a bit but I do have a promise from my mum) and that training was going fine apart from the bug and the knees - I said that I might have to walk the run but as long as they didn't mind I didn't mind either. She sounded really pleased with my progress, which is very encouraging. And, as far as the run goes, if I walk it this time then run the next time (ooh, look - I'm planning the next one already!) I can't fail to do a new personal best. Did you see that Mo Farrah set a new British record in Zurich last night when he ran 5k in 13 minutes. THIRTEEN MINUTES! Good grief. Apparently he trains at high altitude. Caerphilly's got a mountain so I'm on the right lines...

And after my sugarfest of the past few days (my body needed it and all that) I have to get my diet back on track. I did start all this to get back in shape, after all. However, it's Friday night, we fancy a take-away (Guy calls it a 'carry-out' - weird Scottish saying or what?) and I expect there'll be a glass of wine. We'll be watching the cricket highlights (lowlights?) so I think the wine may be Very Necessary...
