I've started interval training - the thing where you "alternate short, high intensity bursts of speed with slower, recovery phases throughout a single workout". This means that I'm slow walking, then a bit of steady running, then normal walking, then a bit of steady running and then generally a dunk in the river. I'm not very good at it yet - up to about 2k maximum, but it's a start. It's a shame really as I used to be able to run at least 10k without stopping, but I seem to have lost a lot of muscle, although the physio exercises I do twice a day are really helping repair my muscles. I don't walk like John Wayne any more either...
And the resistance training is interesting. I have an elastic band that starts under my throat, crosses behind my neck and ties to the opposite leg, then it also goes around my chest and sticks to itself with Velcro. It's a bit of a contraption but once I'm into it it's actually very reassuring - a bit like compression tights - and I actually think I'm better when I'm wearing it. I wonder if anybody notices? It was recommended by my chiro/physio person - and the really good news is that I've gone from a visit every week to a visit every two weeks. Progress!
And, a weird side effect of all this new physio and training

my tail's got fluffier!!
That's my happy face. No, really it is.
Lots of love from Freaky Running Dog.
PS: Slow Sarah says she'll write the blog again next week. This week she's been busy cycling 70 miles, swimming a mile practising her newly improved front crawl, and running 15k.
