So as I have no training to write about, and as it's Red Nose Day on Friday, and I have a red nose, here's my Red Nose Day Cake recipe...
Red Nose Day Chocolate Cake
225g Plain
Flour
50g Cocoa
Powder (e.g. Bournville)
1 level tsp Bicarbonate
of soda
¼ tsp Salt
275g Caster
sugar
100g Soft
tub margarine (e.g. Stork)
¼ pint Mix
of half milk half water
2 Medium eggs
Grease two 20cm cake tins
1.
Bung everything into a large bowl.
2.
Beat for exactly one minute either with an electric mixer or with lots of energy.
3. Put half in each tin and cook in a moderate oven (180C) for about 30 minutes. They should feel springy to the touch.
4. When they're cool, sandwich together with buttercream (100g soft marg, 200g icing sugar, 1/2 tsp vanilla essence, all beaten together) and put the cake on a plate or board.
5. Cover in white 'ready to roll' icing bought from any supermarket. Don't buy the 'ready rolled' stuff - it tastes like chewing gum...
6. Cut out some red spots (you can use the top of a spice jar, it's about the right size), dampen them with a little water on a paintbrush and stick them all over the cake.
7. Add a big red ribbon!
Well, unless Wales have won the rugby in which case I may have to GLOAT!
