Phew, what a scorcher!

Well, OK, not today obviously - that was WET.  But you know how earlier in the week it was hot and dry and sunny?  Somebody in our village had a log fire burning every day and night!  I know!

Yes, it was us...

To be fair, we had to - we discovered we had a bees nest in the chimney and following a frantic evening speaking to bee keepers, we lit the fire and shut all the windows.  And they didn't leave.  That was Tuesday, and we had to keep the fire in until Friday when we finally got rid of the bees.  BB (handsome but dim cat) said it was lovely and warm and when the fire went out he sat with his nose to the glass waiting for it to be lit again.  Like I said, dim.

It's been a quiet week on the exercising cows front because we just couldn't get together at the same time.  Ice Cream Sian is ill, one of Ceri's children has a broken arm which needed an op to pin it (ouch) and I had to leave early early on Saturday to visit my mum for her 80th birthday.  Our planned run was getting earlier and earlier, and there still wouldn't have been time...  So I whizzed out on the bike at 7am and did a very quick 10k before we went partying.

And today (drum roll please) I ran.  Yep, actual running.  Well, 'running' in the sense of 'moving marginally faster than walking' but not in any sense that Fit Mark would recognise.  And the knees remained intact.  Just 2k and I now have hot water bottles on my knees to help them recover.  On Tuesday I will attempt the heady distance of (another drum roll please) 4k.  By the end of June I may even make it to 10k which would be Very Handy as I'm entered in the Mud Runner.  Twice in two days.  Gulp.

Just for good measure and because it's ok for knees, I also MTB'd for 10k, walked the dogs and swam.

Sort of a quadrathlon with dodgy distances.  Is there such a thing as a quadrathlon?

There is now...
