I'm doing a triathlon a week today. Eeeek. (And please give generously to the little blue box to the right - yes, I do need sponsoring!) On the plus side, the knee is improving nicely and now has a splendid knee brace to help it do running stuff, and I'm swimming and cycling every day because the knee says it's ok. Phew.
However, my team-mates are deserting me in droves... Fit Mark has gone to France (really, all he had to do was say he didn't want to run with us any more) where he says he's watching the Tour de France (and I do hope he wasn't that spectator in the yellow jersey who caused them all to crash) and Ice Cream Sian has shows which need ice cream coming out of her ears and wasn't able to run this morning, although we did do a very nice little 4.2k hilly run on Friday which was enough to make us realise we're (a) unfit and (b) unfit. So, what to do?
Get a new running companion, obviously.

Meet New Running Dog. Yes, she is the same colour as my knee brace. I do try with this whole fashion thing.

She's absolutely gorgeous and we picked her up from Many Tears Rescue in Llanelli on Friday... she's very nervous and very underweight so she's not even running as far as me for the moment, but she's Definitely Showing Promise. She's almost a labrador... and we think the other bit may be, er, greyhound. She is FAST! This morning she was confident enough to run around in the woodlands at full tilt and she is really, really quick. Bounding around, she flattened Rubbish Running Dog twice but didn't get away with it the third time - a quick sidestep by Rubbish Running Dog meant that New Running Dog just sailed past and had to execute a pretty nifty hand-brake turn to come back with her tail wagging.
And this is what poses the logistical problem. How do we get two dogs, two humans and a bicycle into a Fiat 500 for the triathlon next weekend?
Answers please by email or text or letter or postcard or pigeon. Just answers please...
Excuse me, but I couldn't get either of you to run with me on Thurs!!
