Pool progress

Well, not really progress in the usual sense of the word...

Before my last blog I'd ordered all the parts. They were duly despatched on Tuesday to arrive at my office on Wednesday except they didn't arrive at my office because they'd been sent to home and of course both Guy and I were out working so the first we knew about it was when we got home to find one of those 'we delivered you were out we'll deliver again tomorrow' cards which was no help at all because we'd be out at work again so I phoned their automated answering service and asked them not to deliver again but said that I would collect from the depot which was sort of on my way home on Thursday so I called in but they couldn't find the parcels and asked what they looked like which I couldn't help much with as I hadn't packed them although I did say it was a pool liner which usually looks like a body bag and a few other bits probably in boxes so they did a bit more hunting and found two boxes but nothing looking like a body bag so I brought the two boxes home and investigated only to find that the liner hadn't been sent so by the time I phoned the supplier to query this it was Friday morning on account of it being delivered to the wrong place on Wednesday and not collected from the depot until Thursday and the supplier said that as they hadn't got one bit of the four parts needed for the liner they hadn't sent the other three bits but they hadn't told me they hadn't got the fourth bit because they expected it to arrive and was that ok and could I just hang on for a bit which I explained wasn't ok because we were hoping to have the engineer fitting everything this coming Tuesday so to 'just hang on a bit' wasn't really an option especially as the bit they hadn't got was underlay which is pretty common and I could buy it locally so they agreed to send the other three bits to arrive on Monday properly delivered to my office this time and also said that the underlay might yet arrive on Friday in which case they would send it but at 5pm they emailed to say they'd only sent three bits as the underlay still hadn't turned up so first thing on Saturday I hit the internet and the phones and tracked down the requisite foam stuff somewhere in Cardiff and the firm confirmed that, yes, they had it and, yes, they had enough but, no, I couldn't get it on Saturday as they had nobody to cut it so would Monday do which I explained that it wouldn't as I was working so they agreed to cut it as long as I could give them a few hours which was easy and in the meantime we concentrated on painting the newly sanded pool walls with Hammerite before it was time to go and get the cut underlay which only just fitted into the Smart car and then we spent today putting in a new damp proof course and the new underlay for the liner which should turn up looking like a corpse tomorrow in which case Somerset Scott can still come on Tuesday to fit all the parts and I should be swimming by Wednesday or Tuesday if I don't mind it being cold which is apparently good for muscles, according to Phil Tuffnell on TMS although Guy says I must be mad to take fitness advice from Phil Tuffnell who was apparently somewhat averse to any kind of training but I am so desperate to get my knee better and do some exercise that I'll probably just chuck myself into the pool when it's just about deep enough.

Phew.
