Team, time and Tardis

Well, there's GOOD NEWS on the team front - Fit Mark was away whooping it up at a wedding in Devon so was out of radio contact (well, it was Devon...) but is back, is well and is fine. Ice Cream Sian has had a physio session and reckons she'll be able to run this coming Tuesday. So we have Grand Plans for 6pm. Yay! A team again! Albeit one still absent (now on mountain bike weekend), one still limping (but under the physiotherapist, so to speak) and one still training on its own.

On Thursday after work I decided to repeat our very first training run, all on my little ownsome, so off I set on the first mud run we ever did with Fit Mark. Weirdly, I could recall all his insults most of the way round... Our original time was 1.06.56. This time (without stopping - I must be improving) it was just 56.47. That's a WHOPPING 10 minutes off! Yay! Mind you, there was a problem... I'm still wearing my extra padded socks. My feet were boiling. And, by the time I got to the river near home, they felt like they were going to explode. I haven't had that since I spent 12 hours standing on concrete in heels at The Ashes in Cardiff (I was working - even I'm not dumb enough to go to a cricket match in heels...) Anyway, when I splashed through the river I stopped and stood in a deep bit - bliss.... Then as I set off I couldn't decide whether it was water splashing in my drinking bottle or my feet squelching which was making the loudest noise...

Once I got home, there was only one thing for it...

And just LOOK at the colour of that water...

And then on Saturday I decided to do the Tardis. Again. Mainly because I got the wrong route at the end last time, and the downhill bit was a different way home so I thought I'd try again and concentrate this time... And here's the weird thing - I decided not to 'chase the time' but to just enjoy it, so I ran the whole way, didn't stop even in the steep bits, and made it home exactly 4 seconds slower than when I did it with Fit Mark. 4 seconds! After 1 hour and 22 minutes... Spooky. Either I'm getting into a rhythm or it's a coincidence. I think it's coincidence...

Anyway, just so those of you who have pavements to run on can be jealous, this is the Tardis in the sunshine this weekend:

And, no, I didn't stop to take the photo - when I told Guy how beautiful it was he got me to drop him and Rubbish Running Dog off at the bottom of the Tardis on our way back from shopping and he walked home, taking pics on the way. Bluebells and wood anemones - isn't it gorgeous?

And that's pretty much been training this week... unless you count getting dressed up for a Wild West night out, saying 'yee-hah' a lot and line dancing...

Yep, it's a pink wig. My stetson was too big without it...
