And the next challenge is...

Er, running 5k in a Santa Suit. Yep, I kid you not! I really need to get this running thing cracked, so I've been taking Fit Mark's advice (practice) and his wife Louise's advice (slow down). I did point out that if I slow down I'll be going slower than Rubbish Running Dog...

Anyway, this week I have run four times, still sticking to my little 3k route, and I can now do it without stopping and without feeling like I'm about to expire at the end of it. Yay! This is definitely progress. My times aren't great - 23 mins, 24 mins, 24 mins and (today) 21 mins. Which is a bit better. And it's only my right knee, left shin and lower back that hurt... And after desperately needing a drink on the Mud Run, I have bought myself one of those drinking bottles that looks like a letter 'O' which is easy to hold when running. Still trying to master the whole 'drinking whilst moving' thing without knocking my teeth out though.

I have now entered the British Heart Foundation Santa Run on 5th December in Bute Park in Cardiff, so I have 4 weeks from today. I have two goals for it - (1) to run all of it without stopping and (2) to do it in less than the 38 minutes I took at the triathlon. Let's face it - I won't be doing a 400m swim and 20k on the bike before the run, so it should be possible! My plan is to run 4 times a week - weekends when it's light, and before work on Tuesdays and Thursdays, when I can leave home slightly later. I shall stick to my 3k route this week, then perhaps make it a bit longer next Sunday. A plan! Apparently I get sent a Santa Suit as part of my entry fee. Can't wait! And I did ask Rubbish Running Dog if she'd like to join me, dressed as a reindeer. She just gave me A Look and then went back to bed. Maybe not, then.... Nic - how about Lara?!

Sarah's tip of the week: Lucozade in the running drinking bottle is not a good idea. It gets shaken up and then when you try and drink it spurts you in the nose. Sticky!
