I'm not entirely sure what I should be doing at this stage, apart from my knee exercises which are still very much on the agenda. Should I be training hard? Or training a little? Or not training? I've sort of hedged my bets by swimming half a mile before work, and then icing the fairytale castle cake for two hours after work. No, it's not your conventional triathlon training, but it does involve standing up, bending a bit and concentrating...
EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 50
Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.
With a 5kg potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.

Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.
After a couple of weeks, move up to 10kg potato sacks.
Then try 25kg potato sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 50kg potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I think I'm at this level.)
After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each sack.
That one from my pal Heather - thanks!
