Not enough hours!

Where did today go? Good grief... I got up at a reasonable time but purposely didn't go and swim hard as my throat is still very sore... should have gone by now! I did more knee exercises instead - my knees feel tired now which isn't surprising given the number of 'ups and downs' they've been asked to do. Then it was work, quick chat by phone with Steve the Physio (who says he wants to see me briefly tomorrow and, no, I shouldn't really have a large dimple in my knee), leave one client, quick lunch, drive across town, afternoon at another client, work a bit late, do shopping on the way home, then home to feed the cats and start work on a wedding cake... I thought maybe I'd get a quick swim in after the decorating stuff, but it just didn't happen... we are making a celebration cake for a civil ceremony where the theme is 'opera'... we're depicting La Traviata in sugar paste, basically... except we've gone a bit Duff Goldman (Ace of Cakes, The Food Channel, riveting!) and we're adding music AND a working candelabra... No, it's not expected, we've just got a little carried away, and they'll love it. Anyway, tonight we made 17 wine bottles, surrounded the cake in icing bunting and added a paved edging to the board... and Guy made three heads. Yes, there are only two in the civil ceremony but, hey, it's always useful to have a spare head!

So very little tri stuff today - except that I did get an email from Tri for Life with a checklist of things to do and bring:

No's 1-4 - sponsorship! Got enough, collected it, reminded people, asked again? Sort of check, but I still want to raise more money...
No. 5 - wetsuit hired? Check!
No. 6 - print off race day start times. I'm starting at 1.10pm - very civilised. Do I have lunch before I go? If I don't I'll be STARVING! Then the 'Men Under 40' start at 1.40. Yep, they're going to catch me up...
No. 7 - Arrive in plenty of time. Check! Poor Guy has a gig the night before and then I'm going to wake him up good and early.... bless!
No. 8 - bring all your fans. Well, there's Guy... So, check!
No. 9 - bring an umbrella. Eh? I'm chucking myself in a lake. Bit of rain isn't going to bother me after that, mate...
No. 10 - Any last minute questions? Just the one - how do I find my bike?

So that's it. It's really happening... just a week on Sunday... OK, I'm off to do more chivvying emails. Keep an eye on that sponsorship total!
