I've entered the Tri For Life race! Oh golly! I've hired a wetsuit, and I've rented a bicycle for the competition... I've even tried out the distance - this morning I did a 10 minute swim (which with the pool at the speed it's at now is a third of a mile), then 20k on the exercise bike which seemed like an eternity - it took me an hour and I've heard more of Patrick Kielty than is strictly necessary, then a 5k brisk walk with Blunkett (that's our dog, I didn't take the politician with me). Blunkett said it was Quite Hard To Keep Up and she was more knackered than me when we stopped.
But I've done it - the whole distance! Yay! Admittedly the swim will be tougher because it will be freezing cold, there'll be lots of other people going faster and I'll be in a wetsuit, then I'll have to find my bike (in racking of 1000 bikes when I've forgotten what it looks like because it's a hire bike) and do the cycle while still soggy from the swim, but at least I've done the distance. I am suitably chuffed with myself, and my knees only hurt like they did before I started... I ring the physios to book another treatment... Just 3 weeks tomorrow until The Race. Now I need to start finding sponsorship so I'm going to ask you all very nicely if you would please just give me a pound or two, or a dollar, or a yen or anything really... Thank you very much!
